Martin Amanshauser was born in Salzburg in 1968. He is an author, journalist and translator from Portuguese who also wrote travel columns for the Austrian newspaper Die Presse and contributed to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. His work includes novels, poetry, nonfiction, travel writing and children’s literature. His novels include Im Magen einer kranken Hyäne (1997), Erdnussbutter (1998), NIL (2001), Chicken Christl (2004), Alles klappt nie (2005) and Der Fisch in der Streichholzschachtel (2015). His other publications include Logbuch Welt. 52 Reisegeschichten, Falsch reisen. Alle machen es, Typisch Welt. 111 Geschichten zum weiter Reisen and the children’s book Pedro und der Drachen.
