Wilhelm Bruners

Wilhelm Bruners (born 1940) studied theology, specialising in biblical studies, and earned a doctorate in theology. He worked as a priest in the Diocese of Aachen, a parish and adult educator, and a lecturer in theological and pedagogical training at the Theological-Pastoral Institute in Mainz. From 1987 to 2006, he lived in the Benedictine community of Jerusalem’s Dormition Abbey; he spent around 18 years in Jerusalem overall. Bruners wrote poetry rooted in the Psalms and published numerous works on the Bible, spirituality and pastoral theology, including Wie Jesus glauben lernte, Und es kam die Zeit and Gottes hauchdünnes Schweigen.
