Franz Meurer

Franz Meurer, born in Cologne in 1951, studied Catholic theology and social sciences. From 1992 onward, he served as a Catholic priest in Cologne’s Höhenberg and Vingst districts, combining parish work with social initiatives. Among these was the development of the HöVi-Land social network. In 2002, he became the first recipient of Cologne’s title of “alternative honorary citizen.” Meurer authored several books and made regular radio appearances.
