Susanne Witzgall

Susanne Witzgall studied art history, theatre studies, psychology and art education at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the University of Stuttgart, where she received her doctorate in 2001. From 1995 to 2002, she worked as a curator at the Deutsches Museum Bonn and the Deutsches Museum in Munich; she subsequently taught art history at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich until 2011. She has also worked as an independent curator and was a visiting lecturer at Newcastle University in 2013. Witzgall curated exhibitions including “Art & Brain II,” “The Second Face,” “Say it Isn’t So” and “(Re)designing Nature.” Her publications address contemporary art, the relationship between art and science, and interdisciplinary discourses. Her books include Kunst nach der Wissenschaft (2003) and New Mobility Regimes in Art and Social Sciences (2013, with Gerlinde Vogl and Sven Kesselring).
