Siegfried Lokatis (born 1956) studied history, archaeology, and philosophy in Bochum and Pisa. From 1993 to 2001, he worked at the Leibniz Center for Contemporary History Research in Potsdam. In 2006, he was appointed professor of book studies at Leipzig University. As a contemporary historian, he published extensively on the history of books, the book trade, and publishing in twentieth-century Germany, with a particular focus on publishing under the Nazi regime and in the GDR.
