Renate Orth-Guttmann (born 1935) studied English and Slavic studies and worked as a translator from English from the mid-1960s onward. The authors she translated include F. Scott Fitzgerald, Edith Wharton, Joyce Carol Oates, David Lodge, DuBose Heyward, and Halide Edip Adivar. In 1989, she received the Christoph Martin Wieland Translation Prize.
