Marianne Gronemeyer

Marianne Gronemeyer is a German social philosopher and social scientist. She was a professor of education and social sciences at Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences for almost 20 years. In her cultural and social criticism, she addressed such topics as the modern fear of missing out, consumerism, the pursuit of progress, and the limits of technologically based notions of security. Her notable books include *Das Leben als letzte Gelegenheit*, *Die Macht der Bedürfnisse*, and *Die Grenze*. Gronemeyer was involved with the Committee for Fundamental Rights and Democracy and served on the supervisory board of Greenpeace Germany. In 2011, she received the Salzburg State Prize for Futures Research.
