Silke Helfrich (1967–2021) was a German author, researcher, blogger, and commons activist. She studied Romance languages and social sciences, with a focus on economics. As a co-founder of the Commons Institute and the Commons Strategies Group, she explored the social processes through which shared resources and commons are created and developed (commoning), as well as the concepts and patterns used to describe these processes. She also worked as a public speaker.
