Seyyed Hossein Nasr

Seyyed Hossein Nasr is a Persian philosopher and scholar of Islam. He taught at George Washington University, Harvard University, the University of Tehran, and Temple University in Philadelphia. At the University of Edinburgh, he delivered the Gifford Lectures. Nasr wrote more than fifty books and several hundred articles on traditionalist metaphysics, Islamic science, Sufism, and Islamic philosophy. He wrote in Persian, English, French, and Arabic. From the 1960s onward, he also addressed the deeper causes of the destruction of nature.
