Katharina Thalbach

Katharina Thalbach (born 1954 in Berlin) is a German actress, director and audiobook narrator. She appeared on stage from the age of four and achieved early success at the Berliner Ensemble and the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. She became known, among other roles, for her performances in the films The Tin Drum and Sonnenallee. From the 1990s onward, she also worked as a theatre and opera director. Her honours include the German Film Award in Gold, the Adolf Grimme Award, the German Audiobook Prize’s lifetime achievement award, the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Jacob Grimm Prize.
