Sylvester Groth (born 1958) was a German actor and trained tenor. He studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and performed at numerous major German-language theatres, including the Berliner Ensemble, the Schaubühne, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Burgtheater in Vienna. He became known through Frank Beyer’s film “The Kaiser's Lackey” (“Der Aufenthalt”, 1982). His film and television work included “Stalingrad”, “Das Wunder von Lengede”, “Romeo”, “Mein Führer” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”. He received the Adolf Grimme Award in 2002 for “Romeo” and, as a member of the cast of “Inglourious Basterds”, a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2010. Groth also contributed to numerous audiobook and radio drama productions.
