Jochen Johrendt (born 1973) received his doctorate in Munich in 2003 under Rudolf Schieffer. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a research associate at the German Historical Institute in Rome. He completed his habilitation in 2008. After holding substitute professorships in Eichstätt, Heidelberg, Essen, and Münster, he took up the chair of Medieval History at the University of Wuppertal in April 2011. His scholarly fields include the history of the papacy and Italy, auxiliary sciences of history, scholarly editing, and source studies.
