Gerhard Scheit (born 1959) studied at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, the University of Vienna, and Freie Universität Berlin. His work deals with critical theory, sovereignty, and the aesthetics of modernity. From 2002 to 2008, he was a co-editor of the collected works of Jean Améry. Together with Wilhelm Svoboda, he published the books “Feindbild Gustav Mahler: Zur antisemitischen Abwehr der Moderne” (2002) and “Treffpunkt der Moderne. Gustav Mahler, Theodor W. Adorno, Wiener Traditionen” (2010).
