Daniel Weidner

Daniel Weidner is a scholar of literary studies. He was deputy director of the Center for Literary and Cultural Research in Berlin and is a professor of general and comparative literature at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. His research focuses include the relationship between literature and religion, the history of philology and literary theory, German-Jewish literature, and Walter Benjamin. His publications include “Gerschom Sholem. Politisches, esoterisches und historiographisches Schreiben” (2003), “Bibel und Literatur um 1800” (2011), and, as editor, “Profanes Leben. Zur Dialektik der Säkularisierung bei Walter Benjamin” (2010).
