Sigrid Weigel

Sigrid Weigel (born 1950 in Hamburg) is a German literary and cultural scholar. She was a professor at Technische Universität Berlin and directed the Center for Literary and Cultural Research in Berlin until 2015. She previously taught in Hamburg and Zurich and headed the Einstein Forum in Potsdam. In 2016, she received the Aby Warburg Prize from the City of Hamburg. Her publications include “Walter Benjamin: Die Kreatur, das Heilige, die Bilder” (2008), “Grammatologie der Bilder” (2015), and the edited volume “Märtyrer-Porträts” (2007).
