Fredrik Vahle

Fredrik Vahle, also known as Fritz Vahle, was born in 1942 in Stendal in the Altmark region of Germany. In 1956, he moved with his parents from East Germany to West Germany. After studying German and political science, he devoted his work to children’s songs and language, exploring the connection between language, music and movement. He published numerous children’s songs and recordings, as well as children’s books, and earned a doctorate in sociolinguistics. His best-known songs include “Anne Kaffeekanne,” “Die Rübe” and “Der Cowboy Jim aus Texas.” He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his musical work and taught at the University of Giessen.
