Christian Morgenstern

Christian Morgenstern (1871–1914) was a German writer, journalist, editor, and translator. Born in Munich, he died in Merano from the effects of tuberculosis. In Berlin, Morgenstern worked for various periodicals and for the Bruno Cassirer publishing house. He is best known for his humorous and grotesque poetry, including the collections »Galgenlieder« and »Palmström«. In his later years, he became increasingly interested in anthroposophy and was closely associated with Rudolf Steiner.
