Erhard Dietl

Erhard Dietl (born in 1953 in Regensburg) is an author and illustrator of children’s books. After studying at the Academy for Graphic Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, he initially worked as a cartoonist and illustrator for national magazines before turning increasingly to books in the mid-1980s. He published numerous children’s books, including the series about the Olchis, and also illustrated works by other authors. He additionally wrote plays for children and created texts in the form of songs and poems. His work received, among other honors, the Austrian Children’s and Young People’s Book Prize, the Children’s Book Prize of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and an award from the Stiftung Buchkunst.
