Martina Wildner was born in the Allgäu region in 1968. She first studied Islamic studies in Erlangen and then graphic design, with a focus on illustration, at the Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences. She began writing toward the end of her studies and specialized in books for children and young adults. Her notable works include *Jede Menge Sternschnuppen*, *Das schaurige Haus* and *Die Königin des Sprungturms*. She received the Peter Härtling Prize in 2003 for *Jede Menge Sternschnuppen* and the German Youth Literature Prize for *Die Königin des Sprungturms*. Wildner pursued a career as an author and illustrator.
