Dirk Baecker

Dirk Baecker was born in Karlsruhe in 1955. He studied sociology and economics in Cologne and Paris and received his doctorate and habilitation in sociology from Bielefeld University, where he worked with Niklas Luhmann. He held research fellowships at Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics, and received a Heisenberg Fellowship from the German Research Foundation. In 1996 he was appointed to the University of Witten/Herdecke, moving to Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen in 2007. He returned to Witten/Herdecke in 2015 and was appointed Senior Professor of Organisation and Social Theory at Zeppelin University in 2021. His fields include sociological and social theory, cultural theory, organisation studies and management.
