Helmut Willke

Helmut Willke (1945–2024) was a sociologist and academic. From 1983, he taught at Bielefeld University, initially as Professor of Planning and Decision Theory and, from 2002, as Professor of State Theory and Global Governance. From 2008 onward, he was Professor of Global Governance at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. He also held visiting professorships in Washington, D.C., Geneva, and Vienna. In 1994, he received the Leibniz Prize from the German Research Foundation. His research focused on systems theory, state theory, political steering, global governance, knowledge management, and democratic theory. His works included Supervision des Staates, Atopia, and Heterotopia.
