Boris Nikitin

Boris Nikitin was born in Basel and comes from a Ukrainian, Slovak, French and Jewish immigrant family. He worked as a director, author and essayist in the international independent scene and at German-language municipal theatres. From 2007 onward, his productions, texts and happenings explored the representation and construction of identity and reality. He also served as artistic director of the biennial festival “It’s The Real Thing,” dedicated to documentary and propagandistic arts. In 2017, he received the J.M.R. Lenz Drama Prize of the City of Jena for his body of work, followed by the Swiss Theatre Award in 2020.
