Christopher Dell

Christopher Dell (born 1965) is a German theorist of urban design and architecture, musician, composer and curator. He studied philosophy, music, composition and organisational development in Darmstadt, Hilversum, Rotterdam, Boston and Kaiserslautern. Dell taught, among other institutions, at the Berlin University of the Arts, HafenCity University Hamburg, the Technical University of Munich, the Architectural Association in London and Columbia University in New York. He headed the Studio for Improvisation at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt and the Institute for Improvisation Technology (ifit) in Berlin. His publications include “Prinzip Improvisation” (2002), “Improvisations on Urbanity” (2009), “Replaycity” (2011), “Die improvisierende Organisation” (2012), “Ware:Wohnen!” (2013) and “Das Urbane” (2014).
