Byung-Chul Han was born in Seoul in 1959. He studied philosophy, German literature and Catholic theology in Freiburg im Breisgau and Munich. He was a professor of philosophy and cultural studies at the Berlin University of the Arts. His notable works include The Burnout Society, The Transparency Society, Saving Beauty, Psychopolitics, The Expulsion of the Other, In Praise of the Earth, The Disappearance of Rituals and Nonthings. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages.
