Anna Veronika Wendland

Anna Veronika Wendland (born 1966) is a German historian specializing in Eastern Europe and the history of technology. She completed her habilitation and worked at the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe in Marburg. Her research has focused on the history of Ukraine and the Soviet Union, nationalism, security, and environmental and technological history, particularly nuclear technology. She is a member of the German-Ukrainian Commission of Historians. Her publications include the monograph “Befreiungskrieg. Nationsbildung und Gewalt in der Ukraine” (2023).
