Valery Tscheplanowa

Valery Tscheplanowa was born in 1980 in Kazan, then part of the Soviet Union, and came to Germany at the age of eight. She grew up in Kiel and Lübeck. She initially studied dance and puppetry before completing her acting training at the Ernst Busch School of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. From 2006 to 2009, she was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin; she subsequently performed at venues including Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Residenztheater in Munich and the Volksbühne Berlin. Her film and television work includes »Whisky with Vodka«, »The Edge of Heaven« and »The Tower«. Tscheplanowa was named Actress of the Year by »Theater heute« in 2017 and received the German Audiobook Prize for Best Performer in 2018. Her first novel is »Das Pferd im Brunnen«.
