Thomas Hettche (born in 1964 on the edge of the Vogelsberg region) began his literary career in 1989 with the novel »Ludwig muß sterben«. His notable works include »Der Fall Arbogast« (2001), »Woraus wir gemacht sind« (2006), »Die Liebe der Väter« (2010), »Totenberg« (2012), »Pfaueninsel« (2014), and »Herzfaden« (2020); »Sinkende Sterne« was published in 2023. His novels and essays have been translated into numerous languages. Hettche received, among other distinctions, the Premio Grinzane Cavour, the Wilhelm Raabe Prize, the Solothurn Literature Prize, and the Joseph Breitbach Prize. »Woraus wir gemacht sind« and »Herzfaden« were shortlisted for the German Book Prize.
