Stefan Greif

Stefan Greif (born 1961) is a German scholar of literature, culture and media. He received his doctorate in 1992 with a study of the concept of honor in the work of Theodor Fontane and completed his habilitation in 1998 with a study of visual aesthetics and descriptive writing in literature. In 2007, Greif was appointed professor of modern German literature at the University of Kassel. His research has included eighteenth-century literature, the relationship between literature and the visual arts, radio and television as media of literature, and popular culture. In 2016, he edited the “Herder Handbook”.
