Rudolph Bauer

Rudolph Bauer, born in Amberg in the Upper Palatinate, is a German social scientist, author, publicist and visual artist. He studied political science, sociology and philosophy, among other subjects, in Munich, Erlangen, Frankfurt am Main and Constance, and received a doctorate in philosophy. After research and academic work in Heidelberg, Offenbach am Main and Giessen, he was a professor of social pedagogy focusing on welfare policy and social services at the University of Bremen from 1972 to 2002; he had also taught in Giessen. Bauer published scholarly works on welfare organizations and social services, including “Wohlfahrtsverbände in der Bundesrepublik” (1978) and “Personenbezogene Soziale Dienstleistungen” (2001), as well as several volumes of poetry. His poetry collections include “Widerton” (1986), “tanger und anderorts” (2006) and “Flugschriftgedichte” (2013). His visual art was shown in numerous exhibitions from 1983 onward.
