Andreas Platthaus, born in Aachen in 1966, studied rhetoric, philosophy and history. He began writing for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in 1992, became an editor in its features section in 1997, and later headed its literature department. As a journalist, author and editor, he published books and essays on comics, animation and graphic art, as well as works of literary and historical nonfiction. His books include the Walt Disney biography “Von Mann und Maus. Die Welt des Walt Disney” (2001), the novel “Freispiel” (2009), “1813,” on the Battle of Leipzig, and “Lyonel Feininger. Porträt eines Lebens.” Platthaus joined D.O.N.A.L.D., a Donald Duck enthusiasts’ organization, in 1983; he served as its “Präsidente” from 1992 and became an honorary member in 2007.
