Monika Lustig

Monika Lustig (born 1953 in Karlsruhe, Germany) studied philosophy and German literature in Heidelberg. In 1979 she moved to Italy, where she worked as a teacher at secondary schools and universities and founded a language school on Elba. She later worked as an editor and literary agent for the Milan-based publisher Kaos edizioni and translated numerous works of Italian literature into German, including books by Andrea Camilleri, Marcello Fois, Simonetta Agnello Hornby and Leonardo Sciascia. Her translations received grants from the German Literature Fund and the Freundeskreis zur Förderung literarischer und wissenschaftlicher Übersetzungen. In 1993, she published a commissioned biography of Sicilian politician and anti-Mafia campaigner Leoluca Orlando. In 2019, she founded Edition CONVERSO – Mediterrane Sprachwelten.
