Ralph Dutli

Ralph Dutli, born in 1954 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, studied Romance languages and literature and Russian studies in Zurich and Paris. He published poetry, novels, essays and biographies, translated from Russian as well as medieval French and Occitan, and edited, among other projects, the ten-volume collected edition of Ossip Mandelstam. His works include the novels “Soutines letzte Fahrt” and “Die Liebenden von Mantua,” the biography “Meine Zeit, mein Tier,” and the poetry collection “Alba. Gedichte.” “Soutines letzte Fahrt” was translated into several European languages and nominated for the German and Swiss Book Prizes. Dutli received, among others, the Johann Heinrich Voss Prize (2006), the Rheingau Literature Prize and the LiteraTour Nord Prize (both 2014), the Düsseldorf Literature Prize (2014), the Erich Fried Prize (2018), the German Language Prize (2021), and the Ginkgo Biloba Translation Prize for Poetry (2023).
