Ralph Dutli, born in 1954 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is a Swiss writer, poet, essayist, biographer, translator and editor. He studied Romance languages and literature and Russian studies in Zurich and at the Sorbonne in Paris. His works include the novels *Soutines letzte Fahrt* and *Die Liebenden von Mantua*, the biography *Meine Zeit, mein Tier* about Ossip Mandelstam, and the cultural histories *Liebe Olive* and *Das Lied vom Honig*. Dutli edited a ten-volume collected edition of Mandelstam’s works. He received the Johann Heinrich Voss Prize in 2006 for promoting modern Russian poetry. Further honors include the Rheingau Literature Prize and the LiteraTour Nord Prize (both 2013), the Düsseldorf Literature Prize (2014), the Erich Fried Prize (2018), and the German Language Prize (2021).
