Kerstin Hau

Kerstin Hau (born 1974) is a German author of children’s books and picture books. She studied media systems design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and journalism at the German School of Journalism in Berlin. Before her studies, she worked as a physiotherapist and fitness trainer; in 2015, she began working as a freelance author. Hau was an alumna of the Academy for Children’s Media and completed the STUBE distance course in children’s and young adult literature. She also trained as a bereavement counselor for children and adolescents. Her picture-book debut, “Das Dunkle und das Helle,” was published in 2019, translated into English, nominated for the Huckepack Picture Book Award, and awarded the KIMI seal. The loss of her son has influenced her work.
