Katja Klengel (born 1988) is a German comic artist and screenwriter. She studied art at the HfBK Dresden and screenwriting at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). In 2012, the publisher Schwarzer Turm released some of her early comics; that same year, her serial comic “Als ich so alt war” appeared in 100 installments in the F.A.Z. Her feminist comic column “Girlsplaining” was published as a book by Reprodukt in 2018, translated into several languages, and received the Rudolph Dirks Award in three categories. Klengel grew up with manga and combines influences from Naoko Takeuchi’s “Sailor Moon” with the aesthetics of American independent comics.
