Dirk von Lowtzow (born 1971 in Offenburg, Baden) co-founded the rock band Tocotronic with Arne Zank and Jan Müller in Hamburg in 1993. Tocotronic released twelve albums, including the autobiographical concept album “Die Unendlichkeit” (2018). From 1999 to 2014, von Lowtzow also recorded five albums with the experimental duo Phantom Ghost, formed with Thies Mynther. He additionally wrote art criticism and catalogue contributions, notably for the magazine Texte zur Kunst. In 2015, he created the opera “Von einem der auszog, weil er sich die Miete nicht mehr leisten konnte” with playwright and director René Pollesch at Berlin’s Volksbühne. He also composed music for theatre and film, including Wolfgang Fischer’s film “Styx”.
