Joshua Sobol

Born in Tel Mond in 1939, Joshua Sobol is an Israeli playwright and author. He lived for a time on a kibbutz and studied philosophy, among other subjects, in Paris. He gained international recognition with the plays “Weininger’s Night” (1982) and “Ghetto” (1984). Sobol wrote more than 50 plays and received numerous awards. He also wrote the novels “Silence” (2001) and “Whisky Is Also Fine” (2005). His academic work included teaching at Tel Aviv University.
