Johannes Siegrist

Johannes Siegrist (born 1943) is a medical sociologist. He was a professor of medical sociology at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and director of its Institute of Medical Sociology until 2012; he subsequently became a senior professor at the university. His research focused on the social determinants of health and illness. Siegrist published more than 500 original research articles, reviews and commentaries, as well as numerous book chapters. In 2004, he received the research prize of the European Society of Health and Medical Sociology.
