Hubert Haider (born 1953) is a linguist. From 1987 to 1996, he was Professor of Germanic Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart, where he was also involved in teacher education leading to the Staatsexamen examinations. He later taught as Professor of General and Applied Linguistics at the University of Salzburg and was affiliated with its Center of Cognitive Neuroscience. His research focuses on comparative syntax, linguistic typology, and the neurocognition of language, with language acquisition and language teaching among their applications.
