Hadija Haruna-Oelker studied political science and worked as an author, editor, and moderator, including for Hessischer Rundfunk. She moderated the Römerberggespräche in Frankfurt and the Heinrich Böll Foundation’s feminist press roundtable, and wrote a monthly column for the Frankfurter Rundschau. Together with Max Czollek, she hosted the commemorative podcast “Trauer & Turnschuh.” Her main areas of work included youth and social issues, racism, and diversity. Her first nonfiction book, “Die Schönheit der Differenz – Miteinander anders denken,” was published in 2022 and nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize. It was followed in 2024 by “Zusammensein. Plädoyer für eine Gesellschaft der Gegenseitigkeit.” Haruna-Oelker received several media awards, including the Kurt Magnus ARD Radio Award in 2015 and the Medienspiegel Special Award for Transparent Journalism in 2021.
