Amanda Gorman

Amanda Gorman (born in 1998 in Los Angeles) is an American writer, poet, and activist. In 2017, she was appointed the first National Youth Poet Laureate of the United States. She gained international recognition in 2021 as the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, when she performed her poem “The Hill We Climb” at President Joe Biden’s inauguration. Her published works include the children’s books “Change Sings” and “Irgendetwas, irgendwann,” as well as the poetry collections “The Hill We Climb and Other Poems” and “Call Us What We Carry.”
