Gerwine Ogbuagu

Gerwine Ogbuagu grew up in Hamburg and began her professional career as a bookseller. She spent ten years in Lagos, Nigeria, where she worked, among other positions, in the library of the Goethe-Institut and for Lufthansa West Africa. At Radio Nigeria, she translated Nigerian folktales and radio plays from English and read German news broadcasts. After returning to Germany, she studied English and American Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. Ogbuagu has published several novels, and her short stories have appeared in various anthologies. Her works include the 2015 novel “Lichtläufer,” which portrays life in West Africa in the context of colonization and enslavement.
