Hermann Bauer

Hermann Bauer was born in Vienna in 1954. From 1983 until early 2019, he taught German and English at BHAK Wien 10, a commercial academy in Vienna. His first crime novel, "Fernwehträume," was published in 2008. He became known for his series of coffeehouse crime novels set around the fictional Café Heller in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district and its head waiter, Leopold. During his school years, Bauer developed an interest in billiards, tarock and Café Fichtl, where he remained a regular for many years. He also performed in 13 productions by his school’s theater group.
