Friedrich Wilhelm Graf

Friedrich Wilhelm Graf, born in Wuppertal in 1948, is a Protestant theologian. He studied Protestant theology, philosophy and history in Wuppertal, Tübingen and Munich, receiving his doctorate in 1978 and his habilitation in 1986. From 1988 to 1999, he taught systematic theology and modern theology at the University of Augsburg; from 1999 to 2013, he held the chair of systematic theology and ethics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In 1999, he became the first theologian to receive the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation. He was elected a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in 2001. His publications include The Protestant Tradition, Church Twilight and Global Gods.
