Christian Frevel

Christian Frevel (born 1962) is a German theologian and biblical scholar. He received his doctorate in 1994 and completed his habilitation in 1998. From 1999 to 2004, he taught Biblical Theology at the University of Cologne; he subsequently held a professorship in Old Testament at Ruhr University Bochum. From 2015, he also served as an extraordinary professor in the Department of Old Testament Studies at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. His research focuses on anthropology, the exegesis of Old Testament texts, and the history of Israel.
