Carmen Mayer

Carmen Mayer is a German author. After completing commercial training, she worked as an au pair in Paris and later in sales, export, and office administration; she subsequently worked as a purchasing agent for German companies in Asia and the Americas. Her first publications were short stories. She became known primarily for historical novels, crime fiction, and plays in regional dialect. Her works include the novels “Die Trossfrau,” “Das Awaren-Amulett,” and “Der Schweden-Schimmel,” as well as a trilogy set during the Thirty Years’ War. The discovery that her ancestors had come to Württemberg as Austrian religious refugees inspired her to write historical fiction.
