Todd McFarlane

Todd McFarlane, born in Canada in 1961, is a comic-book artist and writer. He began his career in the mid-1980s at DC Comics and Marvel, contributing to titles including Detective Comics, Infinity Inc., Invasion and The Incredible Hulk. In 1988 he became the regular artist on The Amazing Spider-Man and helped establish the character Venom. In 1990 he created a Spider-Man series as both writer and artist. In 1992 he co-founded Image Comics, where he introduced the successful series Spawn. The character was adapted for film and for an Emmy-winning animated television series. McFarlane also co-founded McFarlane Toys and later developed the comic series Haunt and Savior.
