Alan Moore

Alan Moore (born 1953) is an English comic-book writer and author. He first became known through work for the British comics market, including Miracleman and stories for the science-fiction magazine 2000 AD. His best-known works include Watchmen, illustrated by Dave Gibbons, V for Vendetta, From Hell, The Killing Joke, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Promethea, and Jerusalem. For DC Comics, he created the America’s Best Comics imprint, which included series such as Top 10 and Tom Strong. In addition to comics, Moore wrote novels, short stories, poetry, and songs. He received, among other honors, the Eisner Award, the World Fantasy Award, the Bram Stoker Award, and the Max und Moritz Prize.
