Thomas Laux, born in Düsseldorf in 1955, studied German and Romance languages and received a doctorate in Romance studies in 1987. He has worked as a literary critic and translator from French since the 1980s. Authors he has translated include Emmanuel Bove, Henri Thomas, Hervé Guibert and Jacques Chauviré. He has also published studies on writers including Jean-Paul Sartre, Emmanuel Bove and Raymond Guérin.
