Tanja Busse (born 1970) studied journalism and philosophy in Dortmund, Bochum and Pisa, and earned a doctorate in 2000 with a thesis on the mass media. She has published articles on consumer protection, agriculture, food, biodiversity and sustainability, including in Die Zeit, Greenpeace Magazin and utopia.de. Her books include Die Einkaufsrevolution (2006), Die Ernährungsdiktatur (2010), Die Wegwerfkuh (2015), Das Sterben der anderen. Wie wir die biologische Vielfalt noch retten können (2019), and Fleischkonsum. 33 Fragen und Antworten (2021). Busse also worked as a moderator, including for the WDR cultural program Resonanzen. She received the Reiner Reineccius Medal in 2009, the Salus Media Prize in 2017, and the German Animal Welfare Association’s Wertewandel Prize in 2018.
