Michael E. Mann is an atmospheric scientist who was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2002, *Scientific American* named him one of the 50 leading visionaries in science and technology. He was part of the scientific team of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In 2020, Mann was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He has written numerous books.
